Lesson 7 Practice -- Questions & Answers

Midterm Exam
(Part One -- Spoken / 50%)

This part of the midterm exam focuses on Questions & Answers. You are required to sign up to meet with your instructor for 10 minutes. Your instructor will ask about 10 questions for you to answer. Your grade on this part is based on your overall comprehensibility, sentence structures and pronunciation/tones. You may ask your teacher questions as well during the test (i.e., if you still have time left after answering the teacher's questions). Your attempt to ask questions might help to raise your grade.

To prepare for this part, go to our website, listen to the recorded questions and practice answering them as many times as you can. It is suggested that you take these questions as real-life questions. Note that the actual vocabulary used in the questions during the test might be different from what you see here. Some of the questions are based on an imagined situation. Therefore, it’s ideal to practice asking and answering these questions with some of your classmates.

Please practice listening and answering these questions.

Here is what we suggest you do:

Step 1: Don't look at the scripts of the questions. Just listen to all questions one by one. Do not try to answer, and just see if you understand. Mark down the number of the question that you don't understand to check later on.

Step 2: Listen to the questions again.Try to answer each this time. Mark down the number of the question that you have trouble answering.

Step 3: Check with the scripts of the questions. Make sure that you thoroughly understand how the questions are structured and are able to ask similar questions yourself. Further help will be provided.

You should be fine if you use a computer with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Otherwise, you need some sort of Chinese fonts installed to read Chinese characters and Pinyin correctly. Or you can print out a user-friendly copy.
