Work Samples
This class examines of the impact of photography as a vehicle for social, economic and/or political change. Students will study the language of photography and the history of social documentary photography, while spending time "embedded" within a community service based agency in Seattle. Students will document the daily struggles, successes and challenges of these organizations, learning to bridge the gap between social issues and photographic possibilities. Weekly critiques and discussions will assist students in the editing and refinement of their final projects. See an example of a final project.
