Each year, graduating Seattle University BFA students in photography exhibit their work in a collaborative exhibition. Following you will see a sample of their work.
The Fine Art Department offers a one-month study abroad program in Siena Italy. Each year a different faculty member from the department teaches an intensive course in subjects ranging from bookmaking, photography, painting and drawing. Check out the work from the 2008 photography class!
This class examines of the impact of photography as a vehicle for social, economic and/or political change. Students will study the language of photography and the history of social documentary photography, while spending time "embedded" within a community service based agency in Seattle. Students will document the daily struggles, successes and challenges of these organizations, learning to bridge the gap between social issues and photographic possibilities. Weekly critiques and discussions will assist students in the editing and refinement of their final projects. See an example of a final project.
