Digital Design at Seattle University is an intensive program focused on visual problem solving, communication skills and information theory. The curriculum includes typography, digital image making, desktop publishing and graphic design production. A focus on print-based communication is central to many of the projects produced in the program. The program emphasizes the process of production and encourages innovative visual ideas and creativity.
Students enrolled in the program take courses in Design and Color, Drawing, and Art History along with all Fine Arts majors—these foundational courses are the primary strengths of the program and are based in the history and practice of visual art and communication.
At the advanced level, hands-on workshops, studio work, in depth critiques, and internships cover issues of concept, theory and authoring. Advanced Digital Design students develop a personal visual voice that is strong in the formal principles of design, and solve problems through clear conceptual thought processes.
