Degree Recital Information and Application Form
DEGREE RECITAL EXPECTATIONS & GUIDELINES · All students preparing recitals must discuss their programs with their private lesson instructor. · Recitals will take place in a venue on the Seattle University campus. Venues that are available for recitals/rehearsals are the Vachon Gallery, Pigott Auditorium and Campion Chapel. · Recitals should last no less than thirty (30) minutes and no longer than ninety (90) minutes. · Your program should encompass a broad spectrum of repertoire from 1700 to the present. · A preview performance of each recital must be approved by your private lesson instructor and one (1) additional music faculty member no less than one (1) month prior to proposed recital date. Scheduling All recitals and rehearsals must be scheduled with Steve Galatro, Operations Manager, and are on a first come first serve basis. Forms Any recital preview given without the proper forms being turned in prior to the preview will result in the preview being invalid, and it will have to be performed again after the paperwork has been completed. Since previews must be given at least one (1) month before the recital, unless otherwise approved by Dr. Quinton Morris, a preview which must be rescheduled could easily result in the need to reschedule your recital. The appropriate recital forms are available from your private lesson instructor or in the Fine Arts Office. Forms must be submitted to Dr. Quinton Morris two (2) weeks before the preview recital. Program Type your program (using the attached sample template). You must submit a copy of your program with your application. The Music Division will be responsible for the reproduction of your program for your Degree Recital. Publicity If you choose to create a poster/flyer to publicize your recital, it is your responsibility to pay for reproduction. You may contact Reprographics, reprographics@seattleu.edu, for your printing needs. It is your responsibility to have stamped and hang all printed materials in approved locations. To obtain a stamp on your material and list of approved poster/flyer locations, visit the Campus Assistance Center, Student Activities, 3rd floor. All publicity must be approved by Dr. Quinton Morris prior to its dissemination. Videotaping If you are interested in recording your recital, digital video cameras are available for check-out from the library. It is your responsibility to coordinate all aspects of the recording (i.e. checking-out a camera, finding a camera operator for your recital, transferring video from camera to DVD, returning camera, etc). Audio Recording If you are interested in recording your recital, contact Bill Levy at bill@viaaudioseattle.com. All fees related to recording are the responsibility of the student. Reception If you are interested in having a reception after your Degree Recital you must reserve the space through Conference and Events, http://www.seattleu.edu/CES/ and go through the on campus caterer, Bon Appetit, http://www.cafebonappetit. com/su/contactus/. No outside food or drinks are permitted. All fees related to having a reception are the responsibility of the student.
