Dr. Lee Peterson, Assistant Director of Choral Music, is the featured composer in this year’s candlelit Christmas Concert. Her Missa Animae, commissioned by Seattle University Choirs, will be performed in its entirety. This is the first complete performance of Missa Animae since its world premiere in 2006.

The concert will include works from the 14th century to modern times. Joining the choir are harpist Ruth Mar and this year’s student conductor Daniel Dovinh.

Missa Animae combines classical, gospel, ethnic ,and jazz styles and is scored for full chorus, five soloists, and alto saxophone,” said Choir Director Joy Sherman (photo above). “It’s a fan favorite.”

The concerts take place at 8 p.m. on November 30 and 2 p.m. on December 2, at St. Joseph Church, 18th E and E Aloha. Ticket prices: 35.00 for reserved seating, 20.00 for general admission, 7.00 for students.

Tickets may be purchased with cash or a check made out to the Seattle University Choirs.
