Senior theatre majors Antoinette Bianco and Robert Keene are directing two challenging contemporary one-act plays as part of the theatre program's main stage season: Rain by Garry Williams and The Actor's Nightmare by Christopher Durang. Faculty members involved in the production are Carol Clay, scenic design; Harmony Arnold, costume design; Ben Zamora lighting design; and Dominic Cody Kramers sound design.
Rain takes place on a Midwestern farm, when Staff, recently paralyzed, returns home in the midst of the biggest drought anyone has seen in over 30 years. In the absurd comedy, The Actor's Nightmare, George Spelvin is brought in to replace the lead actor in a mysterious play. In the above photo, Connor Rice, class of 2016, plays George, and Liz Rathbone, class of 2014, plays Sarah.
“It's incredibly rewarding to see our students direct on the main stage," said Theatre Professor Rosa Joshi. “The plays they have chosen are engaging, provocative and very different.”
Performances run through November 18 at the Lee Center for the Arts. Tickets are $6 students; $8 faculty/staff; and $10 general admission. Details at this link.
The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University, offers 42 undergraduate majors, 37 minors, and 7 master's degrees, including an MFA in Arts Leadership.
