This year, Gretchen Bennett presented her third solo show with Howard House, “Community World Theatre”. In 2008 and 2009 she was awarded residencies with The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2009 she was awarded an Artist Trust GAP Grant. She is currently showing a video work in the Seattle Art Museum and her work will be in the exhibition “Kurt”, at the Seattle Art Museum in 2010, curated by Michael Darling. She has published pieces in issues 1 and 6 of “La Norda Specialo”, a 'zine for artists' writings. She has been awarded a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space 4-month residency for 2010. She has been a guest lecturer at Seattle University, Rutgers University MGSA and Cornish College of the Arts. Bennett received her MFA at Rutgers University MGSA in 2001.
From zero to fifty in five years, the number of majors in the photography program at Seattle University grows every year under the direction of Professor Claire Garoutte.
Theatre Professor Harmony Arnold designed the costumes for the original play “These Streets" about women musicians during the heyday of Seattle’s grunge scene.
Titus Andronicus, directed by Theatre Professor Rosa Joshi, received a 2012 Footlight Award, given by Seattle Times theater critic Misha Berson. Joshi’s version of the play featured an all-female cast.
Visual Arts Professor Francisco Guerrero is featured in "Chamber Music," the newest exhibit at Seattle's Frye Art Museum. Guerrero is one of 36 artists commissioned to create new work in response to musical compositions based on James Joyce's poetry.
