I will be teaching courses within the Strategic Communication major. My research looks at free expression in new media. Specifically, I am interested in hate speech on social media sites, such as YouTube.
Caitlin Ring is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication here at Seattle University. Caitlin earned her PhD in Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her primary research interests are in media law and policy as they pertain to new media and freedom of expression. Her current work focuses on hate speech in social media.
Professionally, Caitlin comes to academia with a background in public relations. She has six years of agency and non-profit experience as an account executive, account manager and director of communications. Caitlin has a B.A. in Communication (Magna Cum Laude) from Clemson University, and an M.S. in Public Relations (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Denver.
In her free time Caitlin enjoys live music, reading, running and exploring the city with her dog Rocco.
