Scholarships

  • Assistantships

Student Assistantships are opportunities for students to apply their studies to real jobs and responsibilities within the Fine Arts Department. Recipients are awarded scholarships for their work that are determined individually based on the level of responsibility, time commitment and financial need. Applications are accepted each year in the spring quarter and typically begin the following fall quarter.

A variety of assistantship awards are available for qualified candidates. These positions support students who have proven expertise, skill, creativity, and potential in a specific aspect of the arts: theatre costume, lighting and sound, technical direction, production management, string performance, graphic design.

    Artistic Achievement in Theatre Award

The Artistic Achievement in Theatre Award is granted each year to a junior or senior Theatre major who demonstrates excellence in the program, artistically and academically. The award recipient is determined by faculty committee.

Funding for the award is generated by ticket sales from Seattle University theatre productions. The grass roots spirit of the award is embodied in the person of Father Hayden Vachon, who used to raise money for the arts with a tin can in hand. This spirit is evident in the fact that the funding for the award comes from the act of creating theatre itself through Seattle University theatre productions.
