Rethinking Criminal Justice and Mental Health:Evolving Policy in an Era of Risk Assessment and Evidence-Based Practice

Event Keynote: Dr. Bruce Arrigo, Professor Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology University of North Carolina—Charlotte; Editor of the Journal of Forensic Psychology Practice; and author of numerous books and edited volumes on the intersection of crime, justice, and mental health including Psychological Jurisprudence: Critical Explorations in Law, Crime, and Society, The Contours of Psychiatric Justice, Madness, Language and the Law, Punishing the Mentally Ill, Criminal Behavior: A Systems Approach, and Introduction to Forensic Psychology: Issues and Controversies in Crime and Justice.
Event Panels and Presenters: Panels will address issues and topics at the intersection of criminal justice and mental health with relevance to law enforcement, courts, corrections, mental health and social services, victim services, juvenile justice, media, public safety and the community. Panels will focus on Theory and Research, Policy, and Practice and will feature key topics and local case studies presented by researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and others.

Proceeds: Proceeds from this event will help support the Criminal Justice Department’s Center for the Study of Crime and Justice, specifically efforts to enhance student research and provide travel scholarships.
