Catherine Hinrichsen is a veteran communicator who specializes in helping organizations win recognition for their outstanding work. She joined Seattle University as an adjunct faculty member in Strategic Communications in 2008.After the Center for Strategic Communications won its first family homelessness grant from the Gates Foundation, Catherine was named project coordinator in January 2010.
Catherine has run her own public relations firm, C&C Communications, for 15+ years. Previously, she worked in nonprofit, corporate and agency public relations, including Burson-Marsteller in New York and EvansGroup (now Publicis/MSL) in Seattle.
In addition to Seattle U, she has taught public relations and communications at the University of Washington, where she earned a master of arts degree in communications, and at the University of Nevada, Reno (Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Speech Communication). She earned the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 1988.
She has served in many leadership roles for PRSA, and leads the local Student Outreach Committee, which connects students at three local universities with professional development opportunities including a formal mentoring program.
