Housing & Homelessness Advocacy Day 2013

More than 600 people from around the state gathered in Olympia Feb. 11, 2013 to give our elected leaders one very important message:  Everyone in Washington state deserves the opportunity to live in a safe, healthy and affordable home.

See what you missed in this photo story from our project here    via "Prezi."

We met with lawmakers to urge them to support important legislative agenda items, including:

  • Invest in the Housing Trust Fund
  • Preserve the Housing and Essential Needs Program/Disability Lifeline
  • Enact Part 2 of the Fair Tenant Screening Act
  • Ensure Value Capture Finance Tools Keep Neighborhoods Affordable
  • Enact Revenue to Avoid Cuts to Services and Programs

We also reminded them that stable housing and education go hand in hand.

Housing & Homelessness Advocacy Day is hosted every year by our partner, the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance.

HHAD showed us once again that you don't have to be a policy expert to be an advocate, just a caring citizen.  Visit the Alliance for updates on the progress of these important agenda items.
