Biography

Dr. Gary Chamberlain is Professor Emeritus of Christian Ethics in the Theology and Religious Studies Department at Seattle University.  Dr. Chamberlain has published previously in Journal for Peace and Justice Studies, America, National Catholic Reporter, New Catholic World, Christianity and Crisis, Theology Today, Worship, Journal of Religious Education, Chicago Studies, Belizean Studies, The Iliff Review, The Critic, Encounter, Japan Christian Quarterly, The Journal of Value Inquiry and several other journals and magazines.  His first book, Fostering Faith, was published by Paulist Press February, 1989, and he co-edited, with Fr. Patrick Howell, S.J., Empowering Authority, published by Sheed and Ward in 1990.  His most recent book, Troubled Waters: Religion, Ethics, and the Global Water Crisis,  was published by Rowman and Littlefield Press, 2008.  Dr. Chamberlain continues with research, writing, and lectures in the area of global and local water issues and a water ethos. He resides in Seattle with his wife, Sharon.  His two sons, Michael and Benjamin, also live in Seattle.
