Led by Managing Director Line Sandsmark, MFA in Arts Leadership class of 2012, ArtsWest Playhouse and Gallery received a National Theatre Company grant from the American Theatre Wing. The American Theatre Wing is best known as the creator of the Tony awards. Arts West, located in West Seattle, is the first theater in Washington and one of only 10 theaters in the country to win this award.
“The grant will provide resources to realize our full artistic vision and assist in our ability to provide even broader access to the arts,” Sandsmark said.
The grant is given to emerging regional theaters that have articulated a distinctive mission, cultivated an audience, and nurtured a community of artists in ways that strengthen and demonstrate the quality, diversity, and dynamism of American theatre.
The MFA in Arts Leadership is one of 7 advanced degrees offered by the College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University.
