Alumni Seminars Winter Series:  World Economic Recovery:  Winners and Losers? Recent reports from around the globe have shown widely varied pictures of economic recover from the recession of 2008.  Some countries have survived the downturn and are beginning to grow their economy dramatically – China, Canada, Brazil, India, France, Germany, parts of Africa, etc.  Others are stagnating or drifting toward a possible second recession.  What is making the differences in these remarkable booms and busts?  How is the United States faring in this new phase of the global economy?   Should it address the threat of government debt or should it emphasize investment for economic growth?  David Reid, Carlos De Mello-e-Souza, Dean Peterson, and Meena Rishi, Seattle University professors of Economics and International Studies in the Albers School of Business, will lead this seminar on the next phase of globalization. Tuesday evenings, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. 
 

 

REGISTRATION: These non-credit seminars run for six sessions of two-and-a-half hours each and are open to anyone with some university background.  The fee for each seminar is $275, which includes books, refreshments, materials, and parking.
