Admitted Transfer Students

Admitted transfer students receive personalized advising and registration assistance in their first quarter from the Arts & Sciences Academic Advising Support Center and cross-campus colleagues at a mandatory Transfer SUccess Orientation Event.  Orientation invitations are emailed to confirmed students and are three hour events designed for the following goals:

  • (1) Plan for course registration
  • (2) Development of an educational plan
  • (3) Introduction to academic and university support resources.

Preparing to transfer is an important process.  Please know that there are many resources available to assist you: 

Select the Transfer Tab on the Admissions Website for admission requirements, timeline information, application, financial aid, and student life.

  • Get to know the SU programs by exploring the SU Catalog.
  • Note that in addition to completing Core and Major requirements, the College of Arts and Sciences has the following College requirements:

    • Modern Languages: All students must demonstrate proficiency in a modern language.  This requirement may be satisfied in one of the following ways: 1) successful completion of at least the third quarter or second semester of a first-year modern language series, 2) satisfactory placement demonstrating proficiency equivalent through the end of one year of study, 3) completion of three quarters of first-year American Sign Language.
    • HIST 121 (Modern Civilization) or HIST 231 (U.S. History) is required with the following exceptions:  Asian Studies and International Studies majors are required to take HIST 121 due to the nature of the program.  Environmental Studies majors take HIST 351 instead of 121/231.

  • Students who complete an approved Associates degree will be guaranteed junior standing (90 quarter transfer credits) upon admission to Seattle University.  All Core requirements except the following five Essential Core courses will be waived: PHIL 210, THRS 200 level, Ethics, Interdisciplinary, and Senior Synthesis.  The following approved tracks exist:
