  • Arts Educator Karen Sharp Joins MFA Faculty

    Karen Sharp, Education Director at Seattle Children’s Theatre, brings her expertise in arts education to the MFA in Arts Leadership program. Sharp has led and coordinated arts education programs for more than 18 years and will teach Arts Education Program Management. She joins the faculty as an adjunct professor.

    “Karen is known throughout the United States for her leadership in arts education programs,” said MFA Director Kevin Maifeld. “She has trained classroom teachers and lectured at universities on best practices to consistently utilize arts in the curriculum.”

    Sharp graduated from the acting program at Goodman/DePaul University School of Drama in Chicago. In 1999, she joined the Seattle Children’s Theatre as Education Outreach Coordinator and then served as Drama School Director. Since 2005, she has been its Education Director and oversees the Drama School and Education Outreach programs. Sharp serves as Board Secretary of the Winifred Ward Scholarship Foundation and Vice-President of Theatre for Young Adults/USA.

     The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University, offers 33 undergraduate degrees and 7 advanced degrees, including an MFA in Arts Leadership.
