  • Debate Team Racks Up Wins

    October 18, 2011

The Debate Team has started the season on a roll.

First, Michael Kaemingk and Ben Watts took second place in the Northwest Eagle Invitation Debate. Then Brock Parker and Michael Kaemingk took first in the Lewis and Clark tournament, where Logan McDonald was the top speaker.

During the weekend of Oct. 13-14, Michael Kaemingk and Ben Watts went to the Oregon State Penitentiary for an invite-only debate tournament. The tournament invited three other schools and had four additional teams made up of inmates. On a very close vote, Watts and Kaemingk took first place.

“This is a tremendous start to the season,” said team coach Sophia Sanders. “Debate takes a lot of time and effort, and the results speak for themselves.”
