  • Criminal Justice Joins Elite Group of Certified Programs

    September 27, 2011

The Criminal Justice programs in the College of Arts and Sciences have been awarded certification by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. B.A., B.S. and M.A. in Criminal Justice degree programs were all certified.

“Only six other universities in the United States have certified programs, and we are the only one west of the Rockies to receive this distinction,” said Professor Jacqueline Helfgott, Chair of the Criminal Justice Department. “This certification acknowledges the strengths of our programs, our scholarship, and our teaching. We have much to be proud of.”

The certificates of certification will be presented at an awards ceremony at the academy’s annual meeting in March in New York City.

The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, an international association, fosters professional and scholarly activities in the field of criminal justice and promotes criminal justice education, research, and policy analysis within the discipline of criminal justice for both educators and practitioners.

The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University, offers 33 undergraduate and 7 advanced degrees.
