  • MFA Granted Full Membership in AAAE

    September 2, 2010

The MFA in Arts Leadership  was granted full membership in the Association of Arts Administration Educators  (AAAE). This Master’s program, one of seven in the  College of Arts and Sciences,  combines academic coursework with practical experience.  According to Kevin Maifeld, MFA Program Director, full membership in the association is akin to accreditation for MFA programs.

“This acknowledgment represents the culmination of a three-year process of curriculum reviews, faculty assessments, and student reviews,” Maifeld said. “The association sets very high standards of education for arts administrators and its members.”

Maifeld, who holds an MFA degree in Arts Management from the University of Alabama, is the Founding Director of the MFA in Arts Leadership and Professor in the College of Arts and Science. The 54-credit MFA program accepted its first students in 2007. Program alumni currently hold positions in major arts organizations, including Balagan Theatre, Lincoln Theatre, Edmonds Center for the Arts, Cornish College for the Arts, and the Lee Center for the Arts.
