The Department of Philosophy hosted a national Summit on Philosophy in Jesuit Higher Education in April. Organized by Professors Matthew Rellihan and Paul Kidder, the conference drew representatives from fifteen Jesuit colleges and universities from around the country, including the department chairs from Fordham University and Saint Louis University. A central focus of the conference was the question as to how philosophy departments' goals of greater pluralism and global perspective can fit with their strong commitments to Jesuit and Catholic intellectual traditions that go back centuries.
