Philosophy Professor Jason Wirth brings Rabbi Don Singer to campus for the 3rd Annual Sōtō Zen Seminar on November 5. This year’s seminar delves into the relationship between Zen and Judaism. Last year, the seminar focused on an interfaith dialogue with the Christian traditions.

Singer, a teacher of contemplative Judaism, was ordained at Hebrew Union College and received dharma transmission in the Zen Buddhist tradition. He is a leading contributor in the Jewish and Buddhist dialogue.

Wirth, who teaches philosophy and film studies, focuses his scholarship on comparative and contemporary philosophy. He is associate editor of Comparative and Continental Philosophy and co-director of EcoSangha Seattle. Wirth joined the faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences in (2005).

The Annual Sōtō Zen Seminar, which is free and open to the public, takes place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on November 5 in Pigott Auditorium.
