Biography

Originally from Philadelphia, Kevin Hughes has lived in Seattle for the past 32 years.  He began his career as an actor at the Hedgerow Theatre in Pennsylvania and then worked in management at A Contemporary Theatre and the Empty Space Theatre in Seattle.  He served as Executive Director of the Washington State Arts Alliance from 1986 to 1990 where he organized a grassroots political effort for more than 60 arts organizations.  He worked for 7 years at Pacific Science Center representing the institution in government affairs and overseeing a major gifts campaign, raising more than $40 million for capital and operations.  Since 1998, through his firm Hughes and Associates, he has represented businesses, government jurisdictions, grassroots efforts and nonprofit organizations at the state, county, city and federal levels.  He is a past member of the Housing Finance Commission and the Seattle Arts Commission.  In 1990, Kevin Hughes received the Corporate Council for the Arts Pyramid Award in recognition of his many years working on behalf of the arts in Washington State.
