Teaching and Research Interests

Dr. Melton’s research interests are in the general area of organizational psychology in sport, specifically in diversity within sport organizations, mainly focused on LGBT populations. She has had multiple publications in journals such as Journal of Sport Management, International Journal of Sport Management, Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletics in Education, and Journal of Homosexuality. She has industry experience working for NIKEGOLF as a Consumer Test Analyst and as a Marketing Consultant for Rice University Soccer Camps. She also golfed professionally on the LPGA tour and has been an assistant golf coach. She previously taught at Texas A & M where she taught Sport Governance, Sport Finance, and also had experience in Sociology of Sport, Diversity in Sport Organizations, and Psychology of Sport and Exercise.
