Dr. Jacob L. Diaz serves as the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at Seattle University. In this role, Dr. Diaz is responsible for providing strategic leadership for several student development functions: Residential Life, Counseling and Psychological Services, Career Development, Wellness and Health Promotion and the Judicial Affairs program. Prior to serving at Seattle University, Dr. Diaz held two positions at The University of Vermont. He served as the Assistant Dean of Students as well as the Director of the Center for Student Ethics & Standards. Dr. Diaz received his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies and his master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Vermont. His Bachelor’s degree in English literature, with an emphasis on 20th century writers was attained at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Diaz’s scholarly and professional interests focus on dismantling oppression through dialogue and narrative writing, racial identity development and leadership through a multicultural lens towards the end of fostering engaging and vital learning experiences with students.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the oldest undergraduate and graduate college affiliated with Seattle University, the Northwest's largest independent university.
