Contemporary Global Novels

Alumni Seminar Series - Winter 2010

contemporarynovels

As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, we strive to learn about the various cultures and perspectives around the globe.  One of Seattle University's most popular professors on the novel will teach contemporary novels from Africa, India and Southwest Asia.  The seminars will include both lectures and discussions about the human conflicts and emotions provided by these important works of fiction.  Participants will read novels provided by the seminar and then raise questions and discuss their insights in the seminars.

Iyer, NaNalini Iyer, PhD., has her doctorate in English, with a specialty in world literature, from Purdue University.  She has taught courses in the literatures of India, Africa, South Asia, the Caribbean, as well as International Women’s Writing for more than a decade at Seattle University.  Her classes are among the most popular in the College of Arts and Sciences, where she has won awards for her teaching and service.
