Welcome statement (teaching/research/personal interests): Teaching Philosophy: To challenge students to think and learn cross culturally. Classes are usually a combination of lecture and seminar style discussion. Research interests: postcolonial literatures, particularly South Asian literatures, “third world” women’s issues, British literatureand imperialism.
Current and Recent Courses: Areas I teach in: 19th and 20th century British literature, Postcolonial lit with a focus on anglophone writing from South Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, Transnational/International Women’s writing. Courses taught: Postcolonial literatures and theory, Literature of India, African Literature, International Women’s Writing, Contemporary South Asian Literature and Culture. My courses are often cross-listed with Women Studies, Asian Studies, and Global African Studies.
