Personal Bio
Penny has over 15 years of experience in management across higher education, non-profits, and entrepreneurial organizations. Currently, she is in Academic Programs Administration at the University of Washington’s Educational Outreach division where she develops and manages a portfolio of certificate and degree programs for adult learners in the domains of business, law and non-profit organizations.
Since 2007, Penny has taught Leadership Assessment and Coaching for the Center for Leadership Formation at Seattle University and is also trained in the Genesys 360TM Leadership Assessment, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Fundamental Relationship Interpersonal Relations-Organization, and myriad other personal assessment tools and how they relate to leadership effectiveness. Penny has also taught in the undergraduate program at the Albers School of Business at Seattle University.
Her scholarly interests relate to the pedagogical aspects of experiential learning and how it may benefit decision-making and leadership. Specifically, her current research agenda examines how participation in academic service-learning influences decision making and personal social responsibility in graduate students and adult professionals.
Penny's leadership background includes serving on the Board for Seattle's Center for Wooden Boats. Currently, she serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Contemplative Leaders in Action Certificate Program at Seattle University. Penny earned her MBA in Marketing from Bentley University and her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Seattle University.
