Personal Bio
Marilyn Gist has more than 20 years of experience in the field of executive development. She is presently Executive Director of the Center for Leadership Formation at Seattle University. Prior to this, she held the Boeing Endowed Professorship of Business Management at the University of Washington, where she was also the faculty director for Executive MBA programs for many years. In addition to her academic roles, she has served in management positions in the public and private sectors. She is Principal and Executive Director, Millennium Resources, Inc. where she has had extensive consulting and leadership training experience.
Dr. Gist is an internationally-recognized scholar. Her research has centered on leadership assessment and development, and confidence-based factors in motivation and training. She has over 25 publications in leading scholarly outlets. The Social Science Citation Index, which monitors how often a publication has been cited by other scholars, provides one measure of the quality or importance of a person's work. This Index shows that Dr. Gist's work has been cited more than a thousand times (an exceptional record) in articles and books that were published subsequently by other people. Her latest work, "Advances in Leadership Training and Development" appeared in a book described as "bring[ing] together the foremost industrial and organizational psychologists and leading practitioners to explore contemporary themes confronting organizations today."
