Our services allow U.S. food & beverage manufacturers to reduce costs, improve profitability and achieve a higher success rate selling their products in global markets. We develop our clients’ brands globally by conducting strategic business planning, increasing sales, meeting the needs of international buyers, and conforming to local import regulations. Employment History

Prior to founding Athena Marketing International (AMI), Mr. Guyer was an expatriate executive for Nestle S.A., the world's largest food and beverage marketer, based in Switzerland. His most recent position was Vice President, Business Development in North America, with Profit & Loss responsibility for an $80 million business producing Roast & Ground coffee, soluble coffee, tea, hot chocolate, coffee creamers, bottled water and flavored beverages. The business had a coffee production facility manufacturing about 15,000 tons of Roast & Ground coffee annually.

Prior to that he was General Manager, Foodservices Business Unit of Nestle in Europe, with P&L responsibility for a $30 million business selling food and beverages across multiple trade channels. Prior to that Mr. Guyer was Sales & Marketing Manager in the foodservices category for Nestle in Asia, with P&L responsibility for a business exceeding $100 million. He began his career at Nestle as Export Manager for Nestle USA, managing U.S. exports to 18 Asia/Pacific countries.

In his 11 years at Nestle S.A., Mr. Guyer specialized in developming and marketing a range of specialty food and beverage products in both the retail and foodservices channels. He opened markets in Asia with Nestle Crunch, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Kit Kat and other leading chocolate brands. He has also had experience with ethnic food (Buitoni pasta and sauces, Que Bueno! Mexican sauces), frozen food (Stouffer's, Lean Cuisine frozen entrees), and other gourmet food items.  

Education

Mr. Guyer holds an M.B.A. degree in International Business from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, and a B.A. degree from Pomona College in Caremont, California. He has performed management research in Japan for the IBM Advanced Research Institute, and was awarded a Rotary International Fellowship to Japan.

Civic Involvement

Mr. Guyer is a feature columnist for American Exporter and Coffee Talk Magazines, and a member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Advisory Committee on Emerging Markets, Gerson Lehrman group Educator's Council, an Advisor with Pacific Northwest Advisors, and a guest Lecturer and Mentor of Seattle University's Albers School of Business. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of The World Trade Club, the Rotary Club of Seattle #4, The Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Trade Development Alliance, Specialty Coffee Association of America, Northwest Entrepreneurs Network, and Treasurer of the Youth and Family Services Foundation of Mercer Island.
