Personal Bio
Ivilina Popova teaches courses in derivatives pricing, fixed income securities and corporate finance. She has published research articles in The Journal of Banking and Finance, The Journal of Alternative Investments, Journal of Derivatives and Quantitative Finance. Prior to joining Seattle University, she was also an Assistant Professor at the Krannert Business School at Purdue University, Director at the Global Research Center at Deutsche Asset Management, New York, and a Head of Equity Research at Koch Capital Markets in Houston, TX. During her tenure in industry, she has developed research ideas in the area of analyzing hedge fund performance, constructing hedge fund portfolios, and developed a new product that is currently used at Deutsche Bank Alternative Investments for constructing and rebalancing a new fund of 100 hedge funds. The portfolio allocation product was used by the marketing department to analyze and suggest portfolio allocation for pension plans, university endowments and high-net-worth individuals. The size of the largest investment brought and managed by the product is $6 billion. While at Koch Capital Markets, she led a group of equity research analysts who developed and traded several equity - and options-based strategies. Dr. Popova is also a Registered Investment Advisor (Series 65) and teaches preparation courses for CFA I and II.
