Personal Bio

Bonnie Buchanan is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Albers School of Business. Her doctorial degree is from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Professor Buchanan has published articles in top-tiered journals such as American Business Law Journal as well as Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, International Review of Financial Analysis, Emerging Markets Review, Journal of Structured Finance, Review of International Business and Finance and Journal of Financial Education. Professor Buchanan's research interests include securitization, law and finance, shareholder activism, emerging markets and real option valuation. Prior to joining the faculty at Seattle University, Professor Buchanan taught at the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and the University of Melbourne. She was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award, Honors Day, UGA in 2004 and the Dean's Teaching Certificate Award for Excellence at the University of Melbourne in 2006. Professor Buchanan has presented her work at national and international conferences and her co-authored work on shareholder proposals has been used in deliberations at the SEC. Professor Buchanan is also a member of the Financial Literacy Study Group of the Re:Enlightenment Project.

As of 2013, Professor Buchanan is the Managing Editor of Journal of Risk Finance.
