What is life at Seattle University really like? How do SU students balance the demands of school, work, and a busy personal life? Meet some of our students in their own words and find out:

Ben Neal Bio

Hello everyone! My name is Ben Neal and I am a senior Biology major. I am Pacific Northwest born and raised and came up to Seattle from Beaverton, OR. I have been involved in many aspects of the university such as planning retreats through Campus Ministry, meeting new students as an Orientation Advisor, volunteering in various places in Seattle like the afterschool STEM club at Baily Gatzert Elementary, leading tours to prospective students around campus, or singing in Chapel Choir. I love to talk and meet new people so if you ever see me around campus please feel free to chat with me! I also like to explore the restaurants, theatre, nightlife, parks, shopping and so much more that Seattle has to offer. There is something for everyone here and I hope you can find out what that is for yourself!

Hey there friends! My name is Mandi Thomas and I am a junior Social Work and Non-Profit Leadership student. I have traveled to the beautiful Pacific Northwest from sunny Southern California (just a hop, skip, and jump away from Disneyland)! When you see me strolling around campus I might be in between Social Work classes, on my way to give a tour at the SU Admissions Office, going to meet the rest of the PHEED (People Helping End Eating Disorders) club for a meeting, or off to catch a bus to Madrona Middle School to tutor youth in foster care. My favorite things to do when I'm off campus involve: exploring the numerous parks around Seattle, collaging, hiking, volunteering, cheering on Seattle sports teams, planning my next big adventure to a new exotic country, drinking coffee, eating cupcakes, dreaming about Disneyland, and playing with friends.

Hello fellow Redhawks (which, by the way, is a mythical creature)! My name is Ray Onzuka, and I'm a happy junior majoring in Enlgish/Creative-Writing and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Random, you say? I quite agree with you—such is my life. I am a very short, Hawaiian, Black, and Japanese girl, from O'ahu, Hawai'i. In my spare time, I like not to have spare time; I'm a sporadic world of contradictions. Please say "Hi!" when you see me giving tours around campus (I'm the one talking 200 miles an hour), or at the gym when I'm teaching my Tahitian Dance Class (a job I created myself!), or on the library computers typing up my next Spectator post, or at the Street Fair promoting Hui 'O Nani Hawai'i, Seattle University's Hawai'i Club. The list goes on. Chances are, you'll see me, whether you like it or not. I can't wait!
