Letter to Faculty & Staff

Dear colleagues,

Every year at Seattle U's Dance Marathon, hundreds of students dance, stand, and play on their feet for 16 hours straight to raise money for the Seattle Children's uncompensated care fund, which helps provide medical care to children in need regardless of their family's ability to pay. This year, Dance Marathon is taking place February 23-24 from 10AM to 2AM in the Campion Ballroom and we would love your support.

The best way to help is to donate to Dance Marathon and Seattle Children's Hospital by clicking HERE. Over 200 students have committed to raise over $100 to support children in need. You can help our students reach their fundraising goals and support a great cause. Children don't choose to be diagnosed with serious illnesses, but we can make the choice to help them in any way we can.

We'd also like to invite you personally to attend Dance Marathon to see what it's all about. There will be a special visiting hours on Saturday, February 23^rd from 3PM – 5PM with a special presentation at 4PM entitled "Sharing the Magic." Families and kids are welcome! There will also be a silent auction including a football signed by Russell Wilson of the Seahawks and many items from local businesses. Of course, you're welcome to stop by anytime during the event to support our dancers.

As you can imagine, an event like this doesn't just happen. Dance Marathon is the largest student run fundraiser on campus. A student steering committee does all the work in organizing the event, recruiting and supporting dancers, and motivating their peers to think about the deeper meaning behind their participation. As they say, they're doing it "for the kids."

Even more exciting, our Dance Marathon is the largest of its kind in the Seattle area (even larger than University of Washington)! Now in its 6^th year, we've been able to grow the program to include 250 dancers and multiple volunteers that will help dance the night away for Seattle Children's Hospital. We have set a goal to raise over $30,000 this year.

It's an incredible feeling to see students doing something so impactful for the Seattle community and on behalf of Seattle University. As their advisors, we couldn't be more proud of the work that all of the Dance Marathon student organizers have done already!
