Dance Marathon is a fundraising effort for Seattle Children's Hospital's Uncompensated Care Fund that culminates in a 16-hour long dance event. The Uncompensated Care Fund provides free lifesaving health care for young patients whose families cannot afford it.
The culminating Dance Marathon includes a myriad of activities, like delicious catered food, a photobooth, games, speakers, and performances by student groups and community members. Fundraising participants in Dance Marathon pledge that they will not sit down during the 16 hours to demonstrate that they are literally standing in solidarity with the patients at Seattle Children's who cannot take a break from their illnesses.
In 2012 Dance Marathon raised over $23,000. In 2013, it raised $42,000! DM is Seattle University's largest student fundraiser.
