Educational Programs Fund
What is the Educational Programs Fund?
The Educational Programming Fund (EPF)—administered by the Division of Student Development—assists SU community members in developing innovative programs, events, and activities that seek to enhance the University’s commitment to educational excellence. The EPF does this by co-sponsoring campus-based programming initiatives that focus on creating integrated and seamless approaches to student learning.
What kinds of programs has EPF funded in the past?
Here is a sampling of the programs EPF has funded in the past:
bell hooks lecture
National Hunger/Homelessness Week programming
African Thanksgiving celebrations
Native American Heritage Month programming
Stem Cell research discussion panel
Engineers Without Borders service trip to Thailand
Conference attendance
Showing of the film Invisible Children about the child soldiers in the Ungandan civil war
How do I submit a proposal?
Proposals may be submitted on line and must be submitted two weeks prior to the event.
Are there any guidelines I should be aware of?
- You should keep the following information in mind as you develop your proposal:
- Proposals can be submitted by any SU student, student group (student or department-sponsored), administrator, faculty, and/or staff member.
- Preference will be given to new, collaborative, innovative and imaginative initiatives that effectively engage students in the learning process.
- Preference will be given to groups that have already sought funding from ASSU, GSC, and/or Multicultural Programming Fund (MPF) sources.
- The maximum amount of funding that may be approved from EPF is $500 for the first year a program is funded. Following the initial year of funding, the maximum amount a program can receive will decrease (e.g., $350 the second year, $200 the third year).
- Any unused funds must be returned to EPF.
- EPF recipients must submit a brief evaluation no later than two weeks after the event has taken place. Funds will not be dispersed until the evaluation is submitted.
