Welcome to the Writing Center!
WRITING CENTER UPDATE: The Seattle University Student Guide to Editing and Style is NOW ONLINE! Easy and free access to the guide is through the "Quick Tips" link! - All Seattle University students, both undergratuate and graduate, are invited to use this FREE service to discuss writing projects in a friendly environment. At the Writing Center, students work on all stages of writing, including BRAINSTORMING, ORGANIZING, DRAFTING, REVISING, AND EDITING.
- Our staff of 16 writing consultants is trained and eager to work with writing from ALL disciplines. Though we come from a wide variety of majors, we share a passion for learning and writing.
- We work one-on-one in hour-long sessions to help students complete individual assignments in the context of becoming a better writer. When you arrive, you and your consultant will discuss the requirements of the assignment, set and work through an agenda for the hour, and finish by planning the next steps to help you continue your work beyond your time in the Writing Center.
- Come in early in your writing process and return more than once for each paper for best results. Be sure to bring a copy of the assignment, an idea of what you would like to work on, and any legible notes or drafts.
- To make best use of our services, consider developing an on-going working relationship with a particular consultant. That consultant can then become more familiar with your style and concerns so as to know how best to help you with each new assignment.
- Come in or call to make an appointment at the Writing Center. Because we are busiest during midterms and just before finals, especially at these times please try to make an appointment 3-4 days in advance.
- We look forward to working with you!
