"Every
day in my classroom I use the tools I learned at Seattle University. Looking
back, I can see that Matteo Ricci College is designed to integrate curriculum
and to engage students to form lifelong habits of learning. Because of
the unique balance between student-centered learning and thoughtful guidance
from professors, the College gave me a strong foundation academically
and personally. The Masters in Teaching program taught me that to be a
teacher is to be a reflective decision maker. I am conscious of the impact
that each lesson I teach has on a child's character and skills. I have
learned to take advantage of every opportunity to guide my students to
become their best. I try to pass along this love for learning to my students."

"During
my teaching career, I have been extremely fortunate to instruct students
in the Humanities, so my preparation through Matteo Ricci College has
been a natural fit. But even if I taught in the sciences, I know that
I would fall back on the foundations of the Humanities course of study.
The Humanities teach you to think, to write, to explore. Learning is always
an exploration of one's world - and the Humanities provide the tools necessary
to undertake the journey. Without the training, I doubt that I would be
as successful a teacher as I am today."

"Earning
my degree in the Humanities provided me with a solid understanding, appreciation,
and awareness of the dynamics of human experience. As a teacher, these
insights have enhanced my ability to teach, to communicate with parents,
and to solve school issues. Because of my training in the Humanities,
I approach each situation knowing that there are many perspectives and
facts to consider. This gives a better education to my students. My years
at Matteo Ricci College were a perfect preparation for the Seattle University
Masters in Teaching program. I've had the best of both worlds."
