The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities for Teaching

The Seattle University Bachelor of Arts in Humanities for Teaching is a broad yet intensive “pre-education” degree, like “pre-med ” or “pre-law” — the best possible undergraduate preparation for subsequent professional training in a graduate school of education.

The BAHT builds on the long-standing hallmarks of Matteo Ricci College — humanistic coursework and careful teaching — and it adds two key elements:

  • Classes, field experience, and co-curricular activities designed and taught in collaboration with the College of Education to provide optimal foundations and perspectives, theoretical and experiential, for those who plan to attend a graduate school for their master's degree and teaching certification;
  • Sophisticated individual advising to tailor your own preparation to the specific certification, job, and career that you want.
