Seattle University offers numerous international service and volunteer opprotunities for students. These opprotunities include:
Club Travel Abroad -
Follow the Club Travel Abroad link and consult with Bernie Liang, Director of Student Activities, liangb@seattleu.edu, 3rd Floor of the Student Center, for required university service abroad procedures.
Health and Human Services in Belize (NURS493/SOCW375) - This course will also explore the history, culture, health and human services infrastructure of Belize, in the context of global issues in nursing and public health. Students will also spend 10 days working with agencies in Belize according to their interests and skill set. (Open to College of Nursing students and Social Work Majors only.)
Belize Internship -(Theology 496) - Student work with the SU campus coordinator (Dr. Tanya Hayes) for a specific placement in Belize in relation to the student's major area of study, e.g., with social service agencies, governmental agencies, medical clinics, churches, and other organizations. The student will receive direct supervision from the organization or agency representative with whom he or she works.
Calcutta Club - Volunteer in India - The Calcutta Club is based on the four pillars of Service, Community, Culture and Spirituality. With these pillars as a guide, students who have served in India provide mentorship and guidance for other students who wish to participate in this experience. There are no limitations or restrictions on who can participate in this experience or who can join the club.
Engineers Without Borders - Engineers Without Borders at Seattle University is committed to designing and implementing sustainable engineering projects in developing communities.
Students have also participated in service-learning projects in Amsterdam, Cape Town, and Santiago through coursework with CIEE and IES, approved study abroad organizations. Please visit the CIEE website, IES website, and check if programs of interest include a service-learning component.
