Through a partnership with Fairfield University students enroll directly into Institut de Formation International and take classes with French and other international students.

Created in 1871, the Rouen School of Management is the second-oldest business school in France. With its emphasis on training managers and leaders, the school has developed a reputation for excellence as one of France's leading management schools. The Rouen School of Management is affiliated with the Rouen Chamber of Commerce and Industry, whose mission is to serve the interests of regional companies. This close relationship is beneficial to both the business and educational communities.

The medieval city of Rouen, France offers an ideal setting for a modern-day exploration of current European business practices. Founded in 911, Rouen is home to magnificent cathedrals, museums and half-timbered houses, and careful conservation program preserves its medieval character. The city is associated with Joan of Arc, who was burned at the stake in the city's marketplace in 1431. Steeped in history, it's just one hour from Paris by train.

Academics

Institute de Formation International (IFI), the undergraduate division of Groupe ESC, is genuinely international with students from all over the world attending its innovative, learner-focused programs. IFI plays a pioneering role in cross-cultural issues applicable to management. The cultural diversity of its students and faculty and the spectrum of its activities make IFI a unique learning environment that is eclectic in spirit and global in nature.

Students are required to take at least one French language course, no previous French language skills are required, but are helpful. IFI courses are offered in both English and French. Courses are offered in Management, Marketing, Finance, International Business, and French language and culture. Please view the Albers Semester in Rouen flyer (below) for more information on approved courses.

Admission

This program is open to all students who are at least sophomores and are enrolled in an Albers major or minor. Students must have a minimum of a 2.8 grade point average.

Housing

Most international students arrange to live in the international dormitory which is a five-minute walk from campus. Rooms have single accommodation with refrigerator, hot plate and linen service. There is no meal plan available but students have access to several on campus cafeterias. Apartments in the city center are also available. Host family accommodations may be requested.

Host Families: Students have the opportunity to live with a French family during their semester in Rouen. All families are selected and screened by a local contact person at the university. Students living in host families will experience French culture first hand, and have regular exposure to the French language in order to perfect their communication skills. Depending on the family, some meals may be included.

International Dormitory: Students live in residence halls, mostly with other international students. The residences are near the ESC Rouen campus and university restaurants are nearby. Students walk 5-10 minutes to class. Accommodations are usually in single dormitory rooms with a bathroom shared with the neighboring room. Bed linens and a pillow are provided. Students can swap their sheets for a clean set every two weeks. Students will need to bring a towel or purchase towels on-site. Students can choose to subscribe to a wireless internet connection in their residence. This is an additional cost of about $20/month. Rooms are equipped with a hot plate, small fridge, and sink.
