“Slamming Slumdog Millionaire” on April 8, 2009, 12:00 p.m. in the LeRoux Room of the Student Center. Join us for a panel discussion, “Slamming Slumdog Millionaire,” that will include SU faculty members Connie Anthony (Arts and Sciences), Nalini Iyer (Arts and Sciences), William Buckley (Arts and Sciences) and Tayyab Mahmud (Law).
"El Salvador’s historic election" event on April 9, 2009, 12:00 p.m., in the Stimson Room, with Andy Girón (senior, Spanish and international studies major), Angela Ortéz (’08, political science and Latin American Studies) and Eddie Salazar (’98 and ’09, and staff in the Office of Jesuit Mission & Identity)— who will share a report on their experience. The discussion will also include an analysis of the next steps for El Salvador’s new government. Girón, Ortéz, and Salazar will be joined by Cameron Herrington, local coordinator of CISPES (Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador).

MAJOR CHICANA AUTHORS VISIT SEATTLE UNIVERSITY IN MAY!
On behalf of the Wismer Professor for Gender & Diversity, Gabriella Gutierrez y Muhs of the College of Arts and Sciences, join us in welcoming two renowned Chicana authors and professors, Helena Maria Viramontes of Cornell University and Norma Cantú of University of Texas at San Antonio, who will visit Seattle University during the month of May. Professors Viramontes and Cantú will be reading from their literary works. Their books will be available for purchase by the Seattle University Bookstore at both events.
