My desk-side recycling bin has a blue insert. What is it for?
Ignore it. We used to ask staff and faculty to pre-sort their paper into white and mixed.

Do I need to remove staples and paperclips from paper?
No. Staples and paperclips can be removed from the paper during the breakdown process. Once the paper has been reduced to fibers, recycling facilities have designed a way for magnets to collect those small metal objects. That way you don’t have to worry about removing them before putting paper in the recycling bin. However, bigger things like plastic binder clips need to be removed. They can damage equipment when the paper is being recycled.

How come most classrooms don't have a recycling or a trash bin?
Recycling and trash bins are in the hallways so the custodians don't have to disturb a class to empty them.
