Katie Smith

About Katie:
Originally from Los Angeles, CA, I spent the majority of my childhood outside of Seattle and most recently in Portland, OR. Here at SU, I am a member of the University Honors program studying Strategic Communication with a minor in Business Administration. As much as I love campus, I take every chance I can get to be outside, hiking or backpacking in the Pacific Northwest. When I'm not in the SGSU office or library, you'll most likely find me relaxing with friends and enjoying all that Seattle has to offer Katie's goals:
As far as a goal for the coming year goes, my main focus is to accurately serve the sophomore class of SU. I don't want to put my own agenda on them, so my main purpose is to communicate with my constituency and best represent what they want. For a specific goal, I hope to start a "Study Break" program during finals week where students can have access to healthy snacks, coffee and tea during those late nights in the library. Also on the agenda is planning "Halfway There," an event which took place at the end of last year for the sophomore class to celebrate the halfway mark of their undergraduate career.
Why she loves Seattle University: Why I love SU is an easy question to answer - the people. Our student population is just the right size; anywhere I go on campus, I know I can count on seeing people I know while still meeting new people every day. Class sizes are small, and the amount of programs, clubs and events on campus means I'll never be bored in the city.
