Aljohn Gaviola & Austin Kawano

Aljohn Gaviola

 Aljohn

About Aljohn:

Hey SU! My name is Aljohn Gaviola, I am a local from Bremerton, WA which is a short ferry ride away. I am currently a sophomore Business Marketing major and Finance minor. I spend my free time with friends, play sports, and go thrift shopping with my bro Macklemore. I’m the type that doesn’t have to do something special to have fun. Being in the company of friends and family is enough for me!

 Aljohn's goals:

My goal for this year is to brand and market our school throughout our surrounding area. As a local I was surprised to discover the sheer number of state locals who are unaware of our school's location. Despite the large number of people who regularly pass through downtown, most are unaware of the beautiful campus located merely blocks away, and it is because of this that I have decided to focus primarily on branding our Seattle U. I plan to get a wider array of student discounts throughout stores, cafés, and restaurant around Capitol Hill to get more exposure and encourage the student body to explore their backyard.

Why he loves Seattle University:

One thing I love about this university is that we are the heart of this great city called SEATTLE. It’s filled with countless oppurtunities, music scenes, and a foodies paradise. The people you meet here are truly special, with a very diverse population like ours you will certainly find a niche that you will belong in. People say we get very little sun, but then again, it wouldn’t be Seattle without the rain.

Austin Kawano

 About Austin:

Hello & Aloha! I am Austin Kawano, a sophomore majoring in Diagnostic Ultrasound with a Biology minor. I grew up in Waipio Gentry on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Aside from being one of the SGSU At-Large Representatives, I am an active member of Hui 'O Nani Hawaii Club, Pre-Health Club and a Student Alumni Ambassador. I also work for SU's mailing services, so if you see me just stop me to say hello or feel free to give me any suggestions you have.

Austins's Goals:

One goal I have is to spread Health Care Education to students, such as offering easily accessible CPR/ First Aid training for students to complete certifications on campus. Another goal I have is for students to build stronger relationships with alumni, which may provide students with future connections and enhance their professionalism. I would also like students to know about the many resources that SU has to offer and to encourage all students to become active members in the SU community. I wish to be an advocate for all undergraduate students and assist with any matters.

Why he loves Seattle University:

I love Seattle University because SU is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. Which is true about everything at SU, considering all the diverse people, professors, events held, clubs, music venues, art sculptures, and the weather. It's always exciting to see what's going to happen next! But I have to admit that I love gray skies and rain the most.
