Karla Ruff

 About Karla:

My hometown is Seattle, Washington. I was born in Seattle and went to Roosevelt High School. I am a senior at SU and my major is Humanities for Teaching. I am a captian of the Women's swim team and compete year-round. I don't have much free time between school, swimming, and my job giving campus tours through SU Admissions, but I do have a little obsession with nail polish and I love to spend a few minutes putting on a new coat!

 Karla's Goals:

This year, I hope to increase communication between athletes and students on campus. Within athletics, I am hoping to encourage athletes from different sports to get to know each other better. I have never been a part of student government, and I am looking forward to being a part of SGSU and representing the needs of student-athletes to the best of my ability. As an athlete, I want to final in my events at our conference meet in the WAC this February. As a student, I am hoping to raise my GPA to a cumulative 3.5 by graduation and I am applying to graduate programs in the hopes of getting my Masters in Teaching.

 Why she loves Seattle University:

I love SU because of the emphasis on the word 'student' in 'student-athlete' here. Our women's team has the highest GPA at SU, and the tenth highest nationally. Academics is very important to me, and I love that this school takes it seriously as well. In addition, being a Seattle-area native, I love this city, especially the christmastime lights downtown and the giant glowing star that goes up on Macy's.
