XP Upgrade to Windows 7

OIT is in the process of updating all windows XP computer that did not get replaced during our Computer Refresh Program, to Windows 7.  Our goal is to do this as quickly and with the least amount of interruption to your day as  possible.  This page will be updated weekly, giving you the most up to date information as possible on our progress.

How this process will work:  A technician will come to your desk and backup your profile that contains settings, your desktop, and documents.  They will then put Windows 7 on your PC or laptop.  Once that is completed (based on the form you filled out) they will add printers, scanners, or other SeattleU device(s) that you use to do your job, along with all  SeattleU programs that were previously installed.  If your department purchased a program which we do not have, please make sure the software is available when we arrive.  You do not have to be at your PC when we do this.  If you know specific dates you will be out of the office please add that in the body of the email.

If you have not yet been contacted, you can use the list below to see what building we are currently working in, and which ones we have marked as completed.  If you click on the building you will be able to see who the employee name and computer name that is scheduled.  If you do not see your computer name listed or it shows we have already completed your building or you have an immediate need to have your upgrade done sooner than listed, please click on the link XP Form.  Once you have it filled in, please save it to your desktop.  Next, click E-Mail Form, and attach the form to the email.  In the body of the email include the name of the person the PC is assigned to, the name of the computer that needs to be upgraded, the model (see the pictures below to help identify which computer looks most like the one you are assigned), and the location (building and office where the computer is located).

 

*If for whatever reason you did not get your PC or Laptop upgraded from XP to Windows 7 when we came to your building, we will be doing a second round, once everyone is completed in the first round.    You can turn in your form at any time before we do the second round to ensure you will not be missed.

Upcoming Maintenance

August monthly maintenance

OIT will perform Planned Maintenance on all data center systems on the following August dates:

Friday August 8th, 5:00pm - midnight (complete)

Friday August 22nd, 6:00pm - midnight

Telephony, Email, SUOnline, and Canvas LMS will be intermittently unavailable during maintenance.
