Faith and the Great Ideas Program for Freshmen

The Faith and the Great Ideas Core Academic Program is designed to give freshmen an integrated liberal arts education in which they:

  • explore ways to integrate faith, reason and justice
  • become more aware of the foundations of their own beliefs and values
  • enhance their global awareness and gain a greater understanding of the beliefs and values of people from faith traditions other than their own
  • develop a strong sense of personal freedom and responsibility
  • participate in a community of students and scholars who love the challenges of integrating faith and intellectual inquiry
  • benefit from small-size classes with active learning in the classroom

Courses linked to the Faith and the Great Ideas program are offered each quarter as part of the broader core curriculum, and students who complete five of these courses receive a certificate of completion at the end of their freshman year.  Faith and the Great Ideas students also have the opportunity to participate in an Academic Residential Community (ARC).
