Mentoring and Tutoring

mentoring tutoring home

In order to provide opportunities for students to consistently serve in community organizations throughout the academic year, the CSCE has set up three tutoring/mentoring programs:

  • Redhawks in Schools
As part of the Seattel University Youth Initiative, SU has parterned with Bailey Gatzert Elementary School, Washington Middle School, and Garfield High School to offer hundreds of SU students per quarter the opportunity to serve as mentors, tutors, or classroom assistants at local schools.
  •  Jumpstart
In partnership with five pre-school classrooms in three Seattle schools, college students serve as tutors and mentors to help build confidence, routine, and friendship in a child's life.
  • ROLE (Read Out Loud Early): Seattle University’s READ OUT LOUD EARLY Program is a start-up preschool education program taking place in a classroom at Bailey Gatzert Elementary School, providing literacy support to children, families, and childcare providers in the Seattle University Youth Initiative neighborhood.
