New Student Excursions

There’s no better way for new Seattle University students to discover their new neighborhood than through a service immersion! Students learn about the inspiring work being done by local community agencies and how they can make a difference through service.  It is an opportunity for new students to meet others who want to make a positive impact in the community.

The New Student Excursions take place prior to Welcome Week in September. For more information and to register during the summer, please contact New Student and Family Programs at 206.296.2525.

International District Immersion

Int'l ImmWhether a Seattle native or a newcomer to the Pacific Northwest, this service immersion experience will help students learn about the rich diversity that surrounds this campus, and acquaint students with the history and culture of the International District while providing service at local community agencies. The group will stay overnight at a community center in the Rainier Valley neighborhood of Seattle.

Environmental Immersion

Env Excursion
Seattle is one of the “greenest” cities in the country—not only because nine months of famous Seattle drizzle creates lush surroundings, but also because of our focus on environmental awareness and sustainability. This immersion will engage students in environmentally-focused service projects with community agencies in and around Seattle. This group will stay overnight in cabins in West Seattle.
